Aller village, Somerset
Aller is a small village and parish, in the union of Langport, hundred of Somerton, Western Division of the county of Somerset. At this place Guthrum, the Danish chief, received baptism, under the sponsorship of Alfred the Great, after the victory obtained by that monarch over the Danes at Ethandune. Aller Moor was the scene of a battle between the royalists and the parliamentarians, in 1644.
